This calculator gives an estimate only, for general information. It isn't financial, tax or legal advice. Your bank, attorney, SARS or a tax practitioner confirms the final amounts.
How this is worked out
The price per square metre is the price divided by the size. It lets you compare homes of different sizes on the same footing.
Use the same kind of size for both: floor size with floor size, or erf size with erf size. A listing's floor size is usually more useful for comparing homes, and erf size for comparing vacant land.
Questions people ask
What does a lower price per square metre mean?
It can mean better value, but it isn't the whole story. Location, condition, security, finishes and the size of the plot all affect value.
How can I use this when selling?
Compare your home with similar recent sales in your area. It helps you test whether an asking price is realistic.
Is floor size the same as erf size?
No. Floor size is the area of the building, and erf size is the area of the land it stands on. In a sectional title scheme, the size is usually the section's floor area.
